The Alaska Marine Highway is water link to roadless communities in Alaska. The idea and Mission of the Marine Highway is to provide transportation in and out of communities not on the road system. The marine highway provide a way to get 
food in by truck to these towns. There is a link from Juneau to Seward. This is a 
once a month, in spring and summer, run connecting Southeast Alaska with South Central Alaska. 
From Seward you can go to Cordova, Valdez, and Whitter, all in Prince William 
Sound by Ferry. Or connect with Kodiak Island and from there to the main land 
to the town of Homer and the small village of Seldovia. There is also a run down the Aleutian Islands chain to Dutch Harbor. There are food services and staterooms for rent on many of the state ferries. It a pleasant way to travel and see Alaska.The ferries has the ability to carry cars and passanages.
